Privacy policy
Draft. This page hasn't been reviewed yet and may change before Snowman 3000 is released.
This policy explains what information the mobile game Snowman 3000 ("the game") and this website use, why, and the choices you have. Snowman 3000 is made by [Crabware's legal entity name] ("Crabware", "we", "us"), [registered address]. You can contact us at hello@crabware.dev.
The short version
- No accounts. The game never asks for your name, email address, phone number or a password.
- The game works with a few partners to show ads, process purchases, send notifications you've allowed, measure how the game is played, catch crashes, tune game settings, and keep your progress in your Apple or Google account.
- Ads are personalised only with your permission. You'll see Google's consent form where the law requires it, and on iPhone and iPad Apple's tracking prompt. You can change your mind at any time.
- We don't use your precise location, contacts, photos, camera or microphone. There's no chat, and nothing you create in the game is shared with other players.
What the game uses, and why
| What | Partner | Why | Legal basis (EEA/UK) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Advertising ID (the IDFA on iOS, only if you allow tracking; the Android advertising ID), IP address, device and app information, ad views, taps and rewards | Google AdMob, with Google's User Messaging Platform for consent | Showing ads, including rewarded ads you choose to watch; measuring and limiting ads; preventing ad fraud; personalising ads only if you agree | Consent for personalised ads and for accessing your device's advertising ID; legitimate interests for non-personalised ads and fraud prevention [confirm] |
| A random app user ID, your purchase history and receipts, device and app information | RevenueCat | Processing and restoring in-app purchases | Performance of a contract |
| Push token, device and app information, language, time zone, notification opens | OneSignal | Sending notifications you've allowed (for example, a new advent door) | Consent (you allow notifications in your device's prompt) |
| An app-instance ID, game events (such as missions played, results and purchases), device and app information, approximate location derived from your IP address (country or region) | Google Analytics for Firebase | Understanding how the game is played so we can fix and balance it | [Consent where required, otherwise legitimate interests: confirm with how consent is set up in the game] |
| Crash reports: stack traces, device state, OS and app version, a Crashlytics installation ID | Firebase Crashlytics | Finding and fixing crashes | Legitimate interests (keeping the game working) |
| A Firebase installation ID, device and app information | Firebase Remote Config | Delivering game settings and balance changes without an app update [and testing variations: confirm] | Legitimate interests |
| Your player ID, display name, achievements and leaderboard scores | Apple Game Center (iOS) or Google Play Games Services (Android) | Achievements and leaderboards [confirm these ship in version 1] | Performance of a contract; Apple and Google handle your game profile under their own policies |
| Your saved game | iCloud (iOS) or Google Play Games saved games (Android) | Keeping your progress when you reinstall or change device | Performance of a contract. The save lives in your Apple or Google account; we don't read it outside the game |
| What you send us (email address, message, device details) | Our email provider [name] | Answering support requests | Legitimate interests |
Payments are handled entirely by Apple or Google. We never see or store your card details.
The game also keeps your progress, settings and choices on your device.
Ads and your choices
- Consent form (EEA, UK, Switzerland [and other regions where it's shown]): on first launch Google's consent form asks whether ads can be personalised. You can change your choice at any time in the game's Settings, under [Privacy options: confirm the label].
- iPhone and iPad: the game asks Apple's App Tracking Transparency question before it can use your device's advertising identifier. If you choose "Ask App Not to Track", you'll still see ads, but they won't be based on tracking you across other companies' apps and websites. You can change this in Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking.
- Android: you can delete or reset your advertising ID in Settings › Privacy › Ads (the wording varies by device).
- Remove Ads: the in-game Remove Ads purchase turns off the ads between missions. Rewarded ads, which you choose to watch for a bonus, stay available and stay optional.
- Notifications: turn them off at any time in the game's Settings or your device's notification settings.
Google explains how it uses information from apps that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Children
Snowman 3000 is not directed to children under 13 [confirm after the target-audience decision in Play Console; in the EEA, under the age of digital consent in your country]. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has used the game and data about them has been collected, contact us at hello@crabware.dev and we'll delete it.
Sharing and selling
We share information only with the partners above, who process it to provide their services, and with authorities when the law requires it. We don't sell your personal information for money. If you allow personalised ads, Google may use your advertising ID and ad activity to show you ads elsewhere; some US state laws call that "sharing" or "targeted advertising". You can opt out at any time with the choices above, or by contacting us. [Confirm how opt-outs and Global Privacy Control signals are handled for US state laws.]
How long we keep it
- Analytics: [the Firebase Analytics retention setting, for example 2 or 14 months].
- Crash reports: [90 days in Crashlytics: confirm].
- Purchase records: as long as needed for purchases, refunds, tax and accounting [confirm].
- Push data: until you turn off notifications or uninstall, plus [period: confirm in OneSignal].
- Support emails: [period].
- Ad data is kept by Google under Google's policies.
Uninstalling the game deletes the data stored on your device. Your iCloud or Play Games save stays in your Apple or Google account until you delete it there.
International transfers
Our partners process data in the United States and other countries. Where EEA, UK or Swiss law requires it, transfers rely on [the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and/or Standard Contractual Clauses: confirm for each partner].
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, UK GDPR, California and other US state laws, Brazil's LGPD, Japan's APPI or Korea's PIPA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or get a copy of your information, to object to or restrict its use, to withdraw consent, and to complain to your data protection authority.
Because Snowman 3000 has no accounts, we identify your data by the random IDs above. To make a request, email hello@crabware.dev [with your in-game player ID: confirm where the game shows one]. We'll reply within [30 days / the time your local law requires].
Security
Data travels encrypted (HTTPS) between the game and our partners, and we limit who on our side can access partner dashboards. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
This website
This website sets no cookies and has no accounts or forms. It uses Plausible, a privacy-friendly analytics service, to count visits. Plausible sets no cookies and doesn't follow you across sites or from one day to the next. It uses your IP address to work out your country and to tell visits apart, then discards it. We see only anonymous totals: which pages were visited, which downloads and outside links were clicked, which sites sent visitors here, and visitors' countries, browsers and device types. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes technical information such as your IP address to deliver the pages and protect the site from abuse.
